Old Crow - Puppies

When I first got into Old Crow, I was impressed by the number of dogsleds around town. It's a tradition that's still practiced here, unlike so many northern communities that have completely abandoned dogs in favour of snow machines.

Every once-in-a-while, I can hear the dogs (which have been moved to higher ground in case the river starts flooding) howling away. Really, their howling is more like singing.

There are a lot of puppies around, too, one of which was taking great pleasure in scrambling up a slide at the playground and then sliding back down.

The puppies that I've seen belong to local mushers and will, one day, join the dog teams.
