ZAP!
I felt it through my entire body and my forearm was numb for ten minutes afterwards. The DVD player powered itself off and powered back on again. It looks like it works, but won't read any disks.
What the heck?

be careful o' the static electricity!
I nearly broke my laptop by touching it after walking around on the carpet for a while. (not purposely o course)
I have also caused numerous breaches of trust with my dog as she stuck her nose out looking for a pat. That took some reconciliation.
