I managed to get one of those white "ghost pumpkins" to try, which was good because there wasn't much else. The ghost pumpkins were all small and mine was no exception, but I found it to be good for carving. I didn't spend a lot of time on this one, but here is the result...
A little goofy looking in the light...

Apparently, there's just something wrong with the pumpkin crop this year, at least judging from the following group one of my friends just joined on Facebook: "global warming is rotting pumpkins before Halloween. Try denying it now."

Great job.....again! I guess you'll have to come back to Ottawa to get good pumpkins. Ours are great......at $2 each!
What type of tools do you like to use, Michael? I can never seem to find high-quality pumpkin carving knives.
You don't need any special kind of pumpkin carving knife. Pretty much any thin, sharp knife will do the trick. Cheap kitchen knives (not the ones for dining, but the ones for cutting vegetables) are all you really need.
