You can assume, but you'd be wrong.

If you see a father with a couple of ratty-haired kids in tow, you're probably safe in assuming - based solely on their tangled mops - that he's single parenting.

But you'd be wrong in assuming that it's because he's somehow less of a parent than their mother. You'd be wrong in assuming that he's neglectful and overlooks important details like his kids' follicle hygiene.

No, they have crazy birds' nests on top of their heads because, when the kids' mother went out of town to take a course, she took all of the brushes and combs with her.

So cut the dad some slack.
