HOLY SMOKES!!! DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT?!?!!?
Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself...
I was out at a symposium this evening and, on the way back, I noticed the northern lights in my rearview mirror. My friend Garrett is in from Ottawa and he was at my house, waiting for me to get back from the symposium. I thought he would enjoy seeing the aurora borealis while he's in Whitehorse, so when I got home, I encouraged him to get bundled up for a walk.
By the time we got out, the light show had all but disappeared. We walked for a bit, hoping it would improve.
The temperature had dropped a fair bit and Garrett was wearing dress pants, so I chose a route that would make our walk a little shorter. The walk led us to a clearing where we stopped for a few minutes to see if the faint band of aurora would improve.
Suddenly, a BALL OF FIRE FELL FROM THE SKY! It started off as a little red streak and then flared into a bright yellow and orange ball.
Garrett turned to me with a bored expression on his face and said, "Did I just see what I think I just saw?"
And I said, "Yes."
He face erupted into a gigantic smile and I shouted out a big "Wahoooo!"
Then, the sky erupted into a fantastic northern lights show. The show would have been an impressive, memorable experience for anyone - if they hadn't just seen A BALL OF FIRE FALLING FROM THE SKY!!!
Did anyone else see it?!?!?!
