Salty Stroll

I went for a walk this evening with my parents, who were in town for a few days - and for most of which I was out of town for the band trip to Langley. So, to be less of a bad son, and because I needed the exercise, I took them to the Takhini salt flats (or are they salt ponds?).

The sea asparagus wasn't out yet and there was a lot of melt water on the ground, but the salt stood out beautifully white around the edges of the salt ponds. That's not snow in the background of these pictures...

My Dad, Nanuq, and me at one of the salt ponds.

The sea asparagus may not be out, but the crocus sure are!

Not to be confused with table salt, apparently, these are crystallizations of sodium sulphate.

Nothing is safe from the creeping crusty crystals!

Me and my Mum.
