Blowout.

It's snowing out quite heavily and, while I'm sure that most Whitehorsians are screaming "Noooo!", I am pleased as punch about it.

For one thing, some of the early spring plants in my front garden have been growing out of the recently thawed soil. With the forecasted cold snap, a little bit of insulating snow will help to keep them from dying off from frost.

I'm also happy about the snow because, unlike my friends in Eastern Canada, I haven't had to shovel my driveway even once this winter. What kind of a winter is it when one doesn't even need to shovel one's driveway? I'm hoping that we get at least a foot, so it makes shoveling worthwhile.

The blustering snow makes me happy because this winter has gone by too quickly for my liking and I'm am not quite ready to let go. There is still more kicksledding to do, even if the snowshoeing season has passed.

Finally, I'm happy about the snow because spring is an ugly season (at first) when all of the garbage and dog-presents appear from their snowy blankets. The wonderful snow is now covering up the splotchy grass in my yard and is hiding the remaining Mushy Pootm that I have yet to collect - even if it's just for a little while.

I know that this is probably just winter blowing itself out in one last great hurrah before summer takes over. In the meantime, I'm going to get out there and enjoy this end-of-season gift from the skies while it lasts.

I was feeling quite smug the other day. My neighbours had these great piles of snow beside their driveways from shoveling all winter, and yet my driveway was snow-free after minimal shoveling -- maybe twice?
