I am a poet? I didn't even know it.

My apologies for the lack of posts. You see, I have a new job.

My submission to the CBC Poetry Face-off got me into the top five of the Yukon round of competition.  Our mission is to write a poem on the subject of "Heating Up".  It must be as close to four minutes long as possible without going over.  What amazes me the most, though, is that I'm getting paid to write and present my poem!  I'm getting paid to write poetry!

Just when I think I've got life figured out, another surprise flies at me from out of left field.  You'd think that I'd start paying more attention to left field.

I've written two poems (so far).  One I quite like, but I'm not sure it's appropriate for a CBC audience.  The other's alright but still needs a bit of work.  I'll post both of the poems on Michael's Meanderings eventually.

The five Yukon poets go head-to-head on February 29th to determine who gets to represent the Territory in the national round of the competition.  If you tune in to CBC Radio 1 in the Yukon, you'll be able to hear us all then.
